Artist of the Week — Krum Chorbadzhiev
Interview by Natalia Nikolaeva on June 22, 2009
What is photography for you?
A means of capturing and passing on what has impressed me. A true passion. A hunt.
Do you believe in love on first sight? Can you think of a person, a thing, or a picture on this topic? (Which one?)
I can think of some things... Some things that fall from the sky and then just as suddenly disappear or vanish without a trace. But what can always start the fire like a spark in the mind. ...very poetic, I know.
Is there a definite way to take a good photo?
A basic knowledge of photography never hurts here. - But I think it depends mainly on the mood, on the decision to stay with the discovered motif. Therefore, breaking the routine is a sure way to the special. Especially with motifs that just pop up (i.e. almost everything I photograph), the everyday time pressure can be an obstacle. You should be able to slow down at any time and invest your time elsewhere, in other words, set priorities.
A trivial-sounding phrase comes to mind: "Only with attention to detail does the very special emerge!"
Where would you most like to photograph?
I would love some landscape shots on the moon.
Which historical era would you most like to live in? Why?
... I will just leave this question unanswered...
What are you dreaming about?
First of all, Sicily. My spirit is already there waiting for me.
